The team (photographed with their medals) – Rocco Palmiero, Ajiri Ukeleghe, Dayan Sood, Billy Towers, Kian Potter and George Miller.

Mr Eyre took our YR8 boys 5 a-side football team to the MK Schools Tournament held at Sir Herbert Leon on 4th July and came home as Champions with gold medals around their necks.

It was a magnificent feat by the boys, who had to play ten back to back games that were each eight minutes long.

Having done enough in the group stage for a place in the semi-final, they played Ousedale who they drew 1-1 with. Dayan Sood scored the goal for Walton High. The winner of that game was decided by a penalty shoot-out. Goalkeeper, Kian Potter, saved a penalty to set up a final against SBE.

In the final, Rocco Palmiero scored early on and Kian made another great save to ensure a 1-0 win.

Mr Eyre was full of praise for the whole team. He described Dayan and Rocco’s link-up play as unplayable at times, but was very quick to say that it was a terrific team effort all round.

Mr Eyre’s Player of the Tournament was Rocco Palmiero. Players’ Player was Kian Potter who kept four clean sheets in total.
