Inset Day - Friday 1 December 2017
There are no students in school on the above date due to a staff training day. This applies to the Walnut Tree Campus and the Brooklands Campus.

Brooklands Campus

IMG 0022Monday 31st October 2016 will remain a date of huge significance in the history of Walton High; the Brooklands Campus opened its doors for the first time to students. This £25million state of the art learning environment was finally ready to be occupied by its first cohort of Years 7-9. What had originally been planned as a six week summer holiday of unloading, unpacking and assembling had to be condensed into the October half term. Thanks to an enormous effort by staff and Walton High’s Post-16 students, everything was ready in time.

Although only 3 months have passed, the impact of the high quality education provided is already evident. Everyone has settled in well and the most is being made of the opportunities afforded by the excellent facilities.

Milton Keynes Recycling Centre YE

On 3 January Team Fusion takes their plan into action and visits Milton Keynes Recycling centre.

Our young enterprise team took off on a trip down to Milton Keynes Recycling Centre. We took off time on our INSET day as we eagerly wanted to learn more about the recycling production. During the afternoon we discovered more about where our rubbish goes and how it gets separated.

Sarah, who is a part of the Milton Keynes Council, took us around the building and explained in depth about what impacts recycling has on our daily lives; how much food is thrown away on an average and how much food waste and recycled materials gets taken to the centre.

There were nine rounds in total, ranging from general knowledge, pop culture and a ‘can you feel it’ round where teams had to identify ten items in a sealed envelope.

Masterclass led by Jeff Rich

Students from across the school took part in a percussion masterclass led by legendary Status Quo’s drummer, Jeff Rich. Over 200 students were invited to watch and take part as Jeff led students on a journey through the history of percussion instruments, demonstrating an exciting array of African and European drums. He spoke of his time in Status Quo and the hard-word, dedication and commitment required to make it as a musician. Students were invited onto the stage to try out various instruments including his very own drum kit! Jeff performed an inspiring drum solo before inviting almost all of the students to stage at once to take part in a huge percussion ensemble. Many students left with a new-found interest in drumming and music performance and everyone came away with an experience they are sure to never forget.

Inspired by the event, Walton High members of the band ‘3 Minute Warning’ recorded a performance along with some of their thoughts on the day. Watch the video here:

Thanks to a countback system which takes into account the numbers of players remaining on the court at the end of each game, Walton High were was declared MK Schools U14 Dodgeball Champions 2016/17.

The team were was Cosimo Pellegrino, Nick Duff, Dean Williamson, Jake Daley, Blake Hart and Morgan Reeves. They are pictured with Mr Harris and Mr Neilly. They will now represent Milton Keynes at the County Games.
