Venture Trust News Updates

Rugby Kit

A big “Thank You” from the PE department at Walton High to the Venture Trust for their generosity in paying for a new KS3 Rugby kit which was worn for the first time at a YR7 Rugby competition at Bletchley RUFC. Hopefully the kit played a part in the team’s success with the boys drawing one game and winning all of the others. Well done guys.
As you can see from the attached photo, they look great in the kit which has the new Venture Trust logo on the front.
They have several other fixtures coming up, so it is anticipated that we will get much use out of this kit very soon and in years to come.
Many thanks from the PE department.
Miss Paice, PE Technician.

Maths Challenge

image010Venture Trust funding has helped Lucy Pangbourne (year 10) to develop and excel at Mathematics and has in part funded a maths challenge at Bletchley park where Lucy and her team came first. The Venture Trust funding has enabled Lucy to attend masterclasses at the Royal Institute and to travel to and study at Imperial College in London.
Well done Lucy who looks set to achieve very highly in her academic career.

Funding For Five Open Canoes

image001 image003

This year the Venture Trust granted funding for five open canoes, a trailer and associated equipment such as paddles and buoyancy aids. The funding of this specialist equipment will enable all of Walton High’s students and staff the opportunity to enjoy canoeing on both local rivers and more adventurous expeditions. The purchase of this equipment allows Duke of Edinburgh Award participants an extended choice to their modes of travel options and compliments the walking and cycling expeditions already on offer and has already been used several times this expedition season. The purchase of the open canoes along with the trailer has also enabled the formation and early development of the Walton High canoe club which can now expand thanks to the multi-purpose paddlecraft trailer.

I would like to say thank you to the Venture Trust and those who support it for allowing this project to happen.

dance12The Venture Trust funding has paid for a 35 seated coach to transport dancers and staff to the regional British Red Cross- Make your move  Semi-final in Oxfordshire on Saturday 5th July 2014. Walton High danced their way to the top of the area heats at Stantonbury Campus on the 8th June 2014. This funding has enabled Walton High to go further in the competition and has allowed us to all travel together and support a valuable cause through the power of Dance.

Media and Performing Arts Projects

Finalists poster ventureThe Venue trust has funded a number of media and performing arts projects over the past few years. Funding for projects such as Walton High's Got Talent has enabled students to experience working with professional-level equipment (such as microphones, lighting and even fireworks!). Our camera equipment was greatly enhanced by funding from the Venture Trust who have helped students from across the school (all ages and all subjects) work with yet more professional equipment. Students frequently comment on the amazing opportunities and equipment they have for extra-curricular activities at Walton High and I am extremely grateful for the support The Venture Trust continues to give us - thank you!
