Akrofonso D/A Junior High School

We would like to welcome and introduce our new partner school. We have been successful in establishing links with Akrofonso D/A Junior High in Ghana. Through pure chance this school is located in the same region of Ghana as our first partner school. The Ashanti region is one of the largest regions in Ghana and is famed for its culture, Kente cloth and cocoa farming, over 50% of the population are farmers.

The school was established in the region in 1942 and has grown and developed its curriculum ever since. There are 100 students and 9 teachers currently at the school. The school curriculum teaches Maths, English, Science, Social Studies, Ghanaian Language and Moral Education. The school does not have its own ICT centre so consequently they send their students to the public ICT centre for their lessons.

The school is successful and is consistently rated in the top ten in the district (which has over 100 schools). The school aims to develop students in every capacity and is particularly proud of its ability to produce confident, skilled and knowledgeable students. It is school where students grow both academically and personally.

Over the coming weeks we will be adding some images our partner school and letters that they have sent. This will help all of us gain a better understanding of Akrofonso D/A Juniour High School.
