Mr Eyre and the Year 8 Boys dodgeball team went to the Bucks County Schools U13 Dodgeball Finals held at Stoke Mandeville Stadium and came back to Walton High with a trophy and gold medals which were won in impressive style.
It was a long day with five other qualifying schools also competing. Dodgeball is fast and furious. Each match consisted of five legs and each leg was two minutes long.
The opposition were Sir Henry Floyd School, Buckingham School, Cottesloe School, Chiltern Hills Academy and Lord Grey School. Walton High boys beat them all. Lord Grey, who also had won all of their games were the last opponents This, in effect, was the final and decider of the County title and Walton High won 4-1.
Mr Eyre was, in his own words, “ buzzing” and so proud of his team. He gave special mention to Rashin Panthi, who became a target for the all the other schools who quickly identified his throwing power and accuracy. Lucas Bailey’s catching was to be commended too. Mr Eyre likened his hands to Velcro!
The team, Lucas Bailey, Harry Lockyer, Rashin Panthi, Nat Emond, Jonathan Carlson-Jones and Aaron Purewal, are pictured with their medals and trophy and a very happy Mr Eyre.
