Year 7 Transition Brooklands

We are delighted to welcome you to Walton High – Brooklands Campus as you begin your secondary school journey in September 2026.

Starting Year 7 is an important milestone, and we are committed to ensuring that you feel supported, inspired, and fully prepared to succeed from your very first day.

At Walton High, we aim not only to help you achieve academic success, but also to grow as a confident, curious, and creative individual. You will have the opportunity to explore a broad and engaging curriculum, participate in a wide range of clubs and activities, and challenge yourself in new and rewarding ways.

We also offer extensive opportunities for enrichment, leadership, and personal development, enabling you to discover and develop your unique strengths and interests.

We understand that moving to a new school can be both exciting and, at times, a little daunting. Please be assured that you will not be doing this alone. Our dedicated staff and student support teams are here to guide you, answer your questions, and help you settle in quickly and confidently.

Where only a month is listed, we are still in the process of confirming the exact date and will update the calendar as soon as it is finalised. If an event is relevant to you and your child, you will receive an invitation via the Applicaa system, where you can confirm your attendance.

Welcome to Walton High at Brooklands Tour

March 2026 onwards

An opportunity for us to welcome you to our community. Come and meet our staff and students, see our school in action, learn about our vision and values and see some of the exciting things you will experience during your time at Brooklands.

Language Olympics

Wednesday 15 April
An evening event that provides an opportunity for you to experience the languages on offer at Brooklands and meet our languages team.

Visits to Primary Schools

May 2026 onwards
Brooklands staff will be making visits to Primary schools to learn about the students joining us in September so we can use this information to help support their transition. Students will be asked to complete an About Me Profile where they can share with us their favourite things, tell us about their family or friends or draw us a picture of themselves. We love receiving these.

Welcome Postcards

Tuesday 9 June
For students with identified SEND needs to attend Brooklands during the day and meet our fabulous SEND team.


In addition, our SEND team will work with families, identified through their work with primary schools, to provide additional transition support for students who may find this time particularly challenging, we are here to help throughout.

Pastoral Support Day

Thursday 11 June
For students identified by their Primary School requiring additional support settling into their new surroundings and community. This is a lovely opportunity to attend Brooklands during the day and meet our pastoral and intervention teams.


Our Pastoral team will work with families to provide additional support during this exciting transition experience.

EBSA/EBLA Support Day Tuesday 16 June
For students with a little anxiety surrounding attending a new school. Come and meet with our attendance and intervention teams and meet the many members of staff on hand to welcome you to Brooklands and help you feel settled. A fantastic opportunity to talk to us about any concerns you have regarding barriers to punctuality and attendance so we can help you belong, learn and achieve.
Fewer Than 5 Event Tuesday 23 June
After school event for those students and their parents who are coming from a school with fewer than 5 other students.
Transition Day

Tuesday 30 June
Students will attend Brooklands for the school day. We can’t wait to show you what a day in the life of a Brooklands student looks like. You will get to meet new friends and our lovely staff.

New Intake Evening and Meet the Tutor

Tuesday 30 June
An opportunity to hear from student speakers and meet our Year 7 tutors to ask any questions you have about transition.

Parent and Carer’s Coffee Mornings

Tuesday 7 July
Parents are welcome to drop in between 9:10-10.40am for a coffee to meet staff and ask any questions. We understand this transition period can also be a daunting time for parents, we are here to support you throughout.
