Year 9 The Stables Music Workshop

Year 9 GCSE Students composition project with the Ligeti Quartet

On Wednesday 18 October the students were introduced to the Ligeti String Quartet and heard performances by Schubert, Shostakovich, Montgomery and Anna Meredith. Students were asked  to take inspiration from these pieces  to write their own composition for the String Quartet to play at the Stables in March 2024.  Students will work in collaboration with world renowned composer Laurence Osborn. They asked several thought provoking questions about playing styles, music and also music careers. We look forward to seeing and hearing many talented compositions.
