The Big Read and Readathon 2022

Throughout March we celebrated The Big Read at Walton High. Our students had lots of opportunities to celebrate their love of reading from our library events, tutor time activities and finally our Readathon which took place on 25 March.

Tutors have been very busy making scrapbooks to showcase the power of reading and our students’ love of all texts.

Our Readathon T shirt competition winner was Michelle from Year 8 at our Brooklands campus. She created a wonderful design that goes down in our Big Read record books.

Our final event of the month was a 25 hour Readathon where both campuses worked together to read non-stop for 12.5 hours each. We had hundreds of students take to the chairs for the reading shift during the day. And some lucky individuals managed to keep it going until 8.30pm that night. We were fueled by fun and cake, so it was easy!
